The Learning Lab is designed for continuous growth. Instead of focusing only on gaps or what a student is struggling with right now, we strengthen foundational skills while building on current learning and preparing students for what comes next.

Meet Ms. Malcolm
The educator behind the Learning Lab.
Teaching in the classroom taught me something I wasn't expecting: the challenge isn't always that students need more time to learn — it's that they need learning designed around how they learn.
I worked with students who were bright and capable, but carried learning gaps that chipped away at their confidence. Traditional classrooms don't always have the time or flexibility to meet every student where they are — and tutoring taught me the answer wasn't more instruction, it was making every minute more meaningful.
My passion for creating meaningful learning experiences began at New York University, where I worked as an America Reads tutor. That experience showed me the power of individualized learning and planted the seed for what would become Ms. Malcolm's Learning Lab.
I know firsthand how much a single opportunity can change a path. In college, a free coding class I stumbled into completely shifted my trajectory—I went on to study computer science and land a tech role before I'd even graduated. Exposure like that shouldn't come with a price tag, and I believe every child deserves the chance to explore their interests early, not just once they're paying for it in college.
The Learning Lab gives me the freedom to teach in a way that puts students first — strengthening skills, building confidence, and nurturing learning that extends beyond the classroom. Its vision is a learning community that grows with students year after year, built on strong fundamentals: thinking critically, approaching challenges with confidence, and understanding how they learn best.

The Learning Lab cohorts are intentionally small and thoughtfully grouped. Students are placed with peers in a similar developmental stage based on their grade level, learning goals, and initial Learning Lab Profile.
Each cohort is designed for rising 1st - 5th graders, allowing students to collaborate with peers working on similar foundational skills while still receiving support tailored to their individual needs.

At the Learning Lab, students may share a lesson—but their learning path is their own.
Each student begins with a Learning Lab Profile to identify their strengths, goals, and areas for growth. During sessions, students participate in shared activities before moving into personalized Lab Time, where they work independently, in breakout groups, or directly with Ms. Malcolm on activities designed for their needs.
This allows students to experience the community of a small cohort while still receiving individualized support.

The Learning Lab is a live virtual learning experience.
Students meet in a small-group setting with real-time instruction, collaboration, and personalized support. Sessions are designed to be interactive through discussions, activities, digital tools, and hands-on learning—not simply watching a lesson on a screen.

Ready to get started? The first step is securing your child’s spot through our enrollment portal.
From there, your child will sit down with Ms. Malcolm for a Learning Discovery Session — a 1:1 session where we get to know them as a learner. We’ll look at their progress toward grade-level expectations, their strengths, and the areas where they could use some extra support. Together with what you shared during your consultation, this helps shape a personalized learning plan designed around your child.
Before sessions kick off, you’ll join a quick Parent Onboarding, where we’ll walk through our learning platforms, ways to support your child at home, and everything you need to know about schedules and key dates. Your child gets their own quick onboarding too, so they feel comfortable and know exactly what to expect.
And then — we begin learning!

No. The Learning Lab is designed for students at different points in their learning journey.
Some students join to strengthen foundational skills, while others join to stay challenged, explore new interests, and build confidence.

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your child’s needs and determine whether optional enhancements, such as additional sessions or extended learning time, would be helpful.

Yes. Family communication is an important part of the Learning Lab experience.
Parents will receive progress updates throughout the program highlighting skills practiced, growth noticed, and ways to continue supporting learning at home.

Reliable internet connection
A quiet learning space
Basic supplies like a notebook and pencil
We use a mix of digital platforms to bring lessons to life — including Google Classroom, Kahoot, and Zoom, among others. This isn't an exhaustive list; as we grow, we may introduce additional tools. Any digital resources needed for sessions are always included in your tuition, and we'll communicate with you ahead of time about anything new we're using.
All digital materials, activities, and resources needed for sessions will be provided.

The Learning Lab is a term-long experience, with students meeting twice per week for 60-minute sessions throughout the term.
Final schedules are created based on family availability to find times that work best for the group.
